Karate Classes for Kids and Adults
Sensei Martin from Salt Spring Island is teaching karate classes for kids and adults! Beginners welcome! We will cover Karate basic and intermediate skills and techniques; play games designed to build coordination, confidence, agility and physical literacy; and build on existing skills, through kata (forms) training and partner work.
Sunday mornings at the Mayne Island School Gymnasium

$135 for 7 sessions for kids' classes (ages 4 and up)

Karate Summer Camp - A 4-day camp with Sensei Martin, July 20th-23rd!
The camp will include games, pad work, and a deep dive into kata and bunkai (explanation of kata). We hope to explore more takedowns and joint locks/ manipulation, as well as get into more of the history and traditions of Karate. We hope to also include a focus on meditation and visualization, another important part of training.
Dates: July 20, 21, 22, 23 (4 days)
Ages: 6 and up
Times: 10am-2pm
Location: TBA
Registration fees: $220/child, through kindertales.
Mother and Baby Group
A drop-in program for mothers and babes-in-arms (up to around one-year-old). Join us to connect with other mums of little ones!
When: Last Monday of each month, 10am (next meeting - April 27th)
Where: Mayne Island Family Place
What: A free, drop-in program; a chance to connect over coffee/tea and snacks

An annual $5 MIECS membership is required to participate in MIECS programs, and can also be purchased at the door. Payment can be by cash or e-transfer. All activities take place at the Mayne Island Family Place at 493A Felix Jack Road
